International Guide Dog Day 2020!
Today we celebrate International Guide Dog Day and the important role Guide Dogs play in supporting people all around the world with low vision or blindness to achieve their goals and live independently.
This year’s International Guide Dog Day comes at a time when we couldn’t be more grateful to these life changing dogs.
Times of struggle always remind us of what makes Guide Dogs so special, from the practical support they offer of us, to the comfort and companionship that’s needed now more than ever.
This is a very special day for all of us here at Guide Dogs as it is not only an opportunity to recognise these remarkable dogs but it is also a day to honour those who help us ensure the most vulnerable members of our community are supported in the good times and in times of crisis.
Our Guide Dogs wouldn’t be the incredible animals they are without the support of our community, our volunteers and our generous donors – and for that we say thank you.
Puppy Zoom Meeting
To celebrate International Guide Dog Day, we’re holding our first (and cutest) Zoom puppy meeting – 12pm, Wednesday 29 April.
The star of the show will be the aptly named new Guide Dog puppy Zoom, who is just three weeks old, along with Guide Dogs staff, Guide Dogs Handlers, and of course dogs-in-training and Guide Dogs.
As many Australians stay connected via video conferencing, what better way to brighten their day than a lunch-time on-screen explosion of our beautiful Guide Dogs and a chance to learn about the Guide Dog Journey – what it takes to make a cute Labrador puppy into a life changing Guide Dog.
The meeting will be held at lunch time on Zoom for people around the country to tune in from their makeshift WFH offices.
