What we do
Supporting Australians to find their way.
Guide Dogs Australia, in collaboration with its state and territory-based organisations, delivers essential services to children, teenagers, adults, and older Australians who are blind or have low vision in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales/Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, and the Northern Territory.
While supports and services are not directly available through Guide Dogs Australia, we are here to ensure our state and territory-based organisations provide consistent and comprehensive support no matter where in Australia you may be located.
Our mission
Equipping people with the skills, tools and support to live confidently.
Our mission is to assist people who are blind or have low vision gain the freedom and independence to move safely and confidently around their communities. That way, every person has the chance to fulfil their potential.
We want to see a world where everybody who needs a Guide Dog, has a Guide Dog. Our services are provided regardless of funding. If a person has government funding we will access this, but if they are ineligible we will provide our services at no cost to them, supported by philanthropy.
A trusted community organisation
Thank you for your ongoing support.
As we receive minimal government funding, we rely on the generous support of the community to fund the Guide Dog program and other services we provide.
In 2020, Guide Dogs Australia was honoured to have been awarded Australia’s ‘Most Trusted Charity Brand’ for the seventh time through the Reader’s Digest annual consumer survey.
