The highly anticipated 2025 season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! premiered on Channel Ten on Sunday 19 January and we are thrilled that Reggie “Birdie” Sorensen has chosen Guide Dogs as her charity partner. If she overcomes the creepy crawlies, physical challenges, and wins the popular vote to claim the $100,000 prize, Reggie has pledged to donate the entire amount to Guide Dogs to support our vital work.
Reggie’s decision to support Guide Dogs comes from her personal experience with Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), a condition that has left her with no peripheral vision and just 9% overall vision. We are honoured to have Reggie promote Guide Dogs to a national audience, raising awareness of the essential vision services we provide.
Reggie’s bright personality and sense of humor made her a fan favorite on Big Brother, where she remains the only contestant to win the show twice, continuing to be celebrated as Australia’s sweetheart. We are pleased that developing low vision has not stopped Reggie from taking on bold challenges in I’m a Celebrity… She is showcasing her ability to overcome setbacks and live an active, independent life, just like our Clients do every day (although perhaps with fewer cockroaches and freefalls!).
Jennifer Gibb, Executive Director of Guide Dogs Australia, expressed her excitement:
“We are thrilled to have Reggie Sorenson’s support and thank her for choosing Guide Dogs as her charity partner. It is wonderful to see TV shows like I’m a Celebrity… featuring people with low vision confidently taking on amazing challenges. We wish Reggie all the very best and know she can do it!”
Guide Dogs is committed to assisting people who are blind or have low vision achieve greater independence by providing the training, skills, and support, empowering them to navigate their communities safely and confidently. With Reggie’s involvement and the national exposure from I’m a Celebrity…, we hope to raise awareness of the challenges people with low vision and blindess face and demonstrate how Guide Dogs can make a life-changing difference.
As Reggie takes on the challenges of the jungle, we’ll be cheering her on every step of the way!
